The Cantons are crusader kingdoms seized from the Southern Barbarians by crusading northern knights. The names here are a mixture of indiginous Southern Barbarian names and League names with a good chunk being of Eastern Central League origin. They are the game world's equivalent of the kingdom of Jerusalem, and Acre and Jaffa ("Kingdom of Heaven" country).
